Sectional Fixed

A sectional fixed appliance is a part of the Clearstep System that is combined with alignment of the teeth. It is either used to close spaces in the back of the mouth where a tooth is missing or has been removed, or to upright a molar that has tipped over slightly.

These problems are not generally practical to be treated with clear positioners, the most efficient method is with a fixed wire and bracket approach.

Restricting the use of fixed wire and brackets to the back of the mouth ensures that it is as discreet an approach as possible.

The brackets will be placed on a select number of teeth, around the area that requires treatment. These are placed by the Clearstep practitioner, generally once the alignment phase of treatment is complete.

The patient must be prepared to maintain excellent levels of oral hygiene during all orthodontic treatment, but especially when wearing an appliance that is fixed in place. Full care instructions are provided should this option be undertaken.

The timescales for the which the appliance is worn will depend upon the requirements of each individual case.
