One of the methods for whitening teeth uses a 'tray'. First of all, impressions are taken, from which a study model is made. This is painted with a special material which increases the thickness of the tooth area. When the tray is prepared, a small pocket is produced. The whitening solution occupies this pocket ensuring that it only comes into contact with the required surfaces and that no damage is done to the soft gums.

INTERNAL BLEACHING

This patient had internal bleaching on her bottom tooth as she was unhappy with the discolouration since she had a route canal treatment.

Patient Whitening Instructions: POLANIGHT.

  • Clean your teeth thoroughly ONE HOUR BEFORE, ensuring teeth are free from debris. Then make sure teeth are fully dry.
  • Load your bleaching trays ensuring that the reservoir in the front of the tray is covered in gel.
  • Place the tray snugly over dry teeth and gently press the trays to move the gel into place and remove any excess gel with a tissue.
  • The custom fabricated trays should be worn for an interval of 2 hours (depending on the concentration). This will give optimal results within two weeks. You will not benefit any more by keeping the trays in for longer than the recommended time as the gel becomes ineffective.
  • After you have worn the trays for 2 hours remove the trays and rinse with cold water. Use a toothbrush to remove the residual gel from your trays and Clean with retainer brite. Then place your trays in the storage case provided and store in a cool, dry place.
  • Rinse your teeth to remove any excess gel after one hour and not before.
  • You may experience slight sensitivity. If you experience any severe sensitivity during the course of your treatment, please stop whitening and do not hesitate to contact us at the surgery.
